After the game she would point out any of the stuff we missed, and explained to us the way the various mechanisms worked. Like my brother, she is also a huge Sherlock Holmes fan. We got stuck in this one a lot, and our game master was extremely helpful.
It's really like you're in a late victorian-era study. Like the other escape room, the theming in this one is great. I'm more of a hands-on person, than the cerebral type, but I can't deny that trying to solve the mind map was really fun. My brother is a huge fan of Sherlock Holmes and got really into solving the case Each puzzle you solve gives you a clue, and you need to collect them all and try to figure out the location, time, motive and the primary suspect. However, any fans of Sherlock will both love this escape room, and also be at a significant advantage over those who might have seen only the Guy Ritchie movies.
Sherlock's Study is a typical escape room in the sense of it being more reliant on locks, puzzles, and codes. The escape effect venue is very impressive, clean and the staff is knowledgeable and very professional. All were amazing for different reasons, but the one that stood out the most to us, in terms of experience were the Sherlock themed one, and Fright Before your Eyes. We actually did a total of three games at this place over the course of a week. If you're not new to escape rooms, this one one of those places people talk about on forums and review sites. If this is your first escape room experience, I hope you realize that you're getting spoiled at the start. Overall, the owners and game masters (especially Jess, who was marvelous) have done a great job creating a fantastic experience. The clues were freely available - we needed four of them - and we never felt stupid, just challenged. I won't spoil the game, but know that there was more than enough that even our group of 5 seasoned players weren't exactly sure we'd make it out in time. We played "A Knight to Escape," which is their two-hour game and the level of detail and period props fit the price and time length. It continued once we entered the room and noticed the fantastic theming.

The positive experience started from the moment we arrived, with a kind attendant getting us ready to complete our waiver by QR code scan with our phone, making it safer in the age of COVID and easier to use our own devices rather than learn some complicated computer system. I've been to a pile* of escape rooms around the country and this is certainly one of my favorites. Too bad there are only 5 stars, because we would give it TEN!!

We didn’t do this but had loved it so much we didn’t mind paying full price (found a $5. It was incredible!! *Hint: book another game within 24 hours of your first game and you will get 20% off. Having enjoyed the Encore game so much, we were back two days later to play the Sherlock Holmes game. If you can, book the last game of the night and they may be able to give you more time. This being our first game of this type, we needed a lot of hints! The hosts were very gracious and encouraging so we didn’t feel like idiots (too much). The hosts of the game were friendly and welcoming, and encouraged us to ask for hints as often as we wished. We certainly didn’t expect to be immersed in the very realistic, incredibly creative room we found at Escape Effect! We played “Encore”, a one hour game which is set backstage of an old theater. They are exciting, adventurous, and something all guests can enjoy.We four adults had never tried an escape room before and didn’t know what to expect. The Escape Game experiences are very different from what you typically see in other escape rooms.
Alcohol is strictly prohibited on our premises. No food or drink can be taken into the game rooms.Each game is designed for one hour of intense fun! Plan to spend 15 minutes prior to each game preparing and briefing for your mission, and 15 minutes after each game to debrief and take photos.Should you feel the need to leave the room, you are welcome to do so at any time. You will be in a room with a locked door, but every door is equipped with an exit button.Also, any participants under the age of 18 will need an adult to sign their waiver. An adult, 18 or older, must participate with anyone that is 14 and under. Younger players are allowed, but some of the game content may be too difficult for them.
